As if we weren't already witnessing too much in 3-D these days with the development of IMAX theaters and the new Nintendo 3DS, Chinese adult industry movie directors decided to create the first full out 3-D erotic comedy with full nudity and camouflaged love making. "3D Sex & Zen: Extreme Ecstasy" topped Avatar during its first day in the box office in China with 2.78 million Hong Kong Dollars compared to Avatar with 2.63 million Hong Kong Dollars. Now the movie is looking to move through Taiwan, Australia, South Korea, and France. Hong Kong and the rest of mainland China have different viewing policies on erotic content. The majority of viewers of this film on opening day actually came from mainland China driving Chinese travel and hotel stays in Hong Kong during this movies first opening week. Is the world really ready for adult films in 3-D? Shu Yokiko , director, says "We met people's expectations. People have always thought that you need 3-D technology for this kind of content. So people were very curious." I think it may be a far stretch for content in 3-D. I would personally like to keep my Avatars and Spy Kids in 3-D rather than adult content. With such a breakthrough in China, it is only a matter of time before this content reaches the U.S. and grows into something new.

It's a fact of life that technology and the adult film industry have a mutually beneficial relationship. Kind of the extreme incarnation of this is proposal that someday there will be fully functional sex robots. This issue actually pushes the boundaries of what it means to be in a sexual relationship with someone/something. There is a lot of technological culture shock around this issue. Yea, its creepy.
